2008 Auditions

 

Auditions and interviews for employment in Entertainment at Tweetsie Railroad will be held in February and March to fill positions for the entire 2008 Season. Although employment can begin anytime throughout our season, we are most interested in talented performers and technicians who are available in early April.

Even if you have previously worked in Entertainment, you will still need to attend one of the 2008 Entertainment Auditions to be eligible for rehire.

Tweetsie Railroad Performance Season:

May 2 to November 2, 2008

Our shows feature traditional Folk, Country, Bluegrass, and Children's music. We are looking for singers, dancers, actors, magicians, musicians, equestrians and technicians to become a part of North Carolina's original theme park.

Local Equestrian Audition Details

 

Tweetsie Railroad will hold interviews and auditions for horse riders on Saturday and Sunday, February 16 & 17.  Interested equestrians should call Tweetsie at 828-264-9061, Ext. 169 to schedule an interview for Saturday, February 16. Interviews will last approximately 20 minutes. From those interviews, Tweetsie will select a few to audition the following day as "Riders".  Potential "Riders" will meet the next day, Sunday, February 17, to demonstrate their equestrian skills.  In case of bad weather another riding date will be scheduled.


Local Performer Audition Details

 

Registration will begin at 8:30 am with auditions beginning at 10:00 am; dance call backs at 1:00 pm.  Performers should prepare a one minute monologue and 16 bars of a song if they wish to be considered for a singing role.  Singing is not required for all roles.  Dance call will feature Can-Can and clogging dances.  Performers wishing to be considered for clogging only may register at 12:00 noon and dance at 1:00; however, all are encouraged to attend the morning acting/singing auditions.

Singers, technicians, actors, magicians, musicians, stage combat specialists, cloggers and dancers are all welcome to these auditions. Technicians will walk through with actors. Musicians and cloggers may register at 12:00 noon for afternoon auditions.

Auditions for actors and singers will be in the morning, with interviews and callbacks in the afternoon.

 

Videotaped Auditions

 

If you are unable to attend the local Tweetsie auditions you may submit a videotaped audition at your earliest convenience.

(90 seconds for song and monologue; dancers may include a separate 90 seconds of a dance routine as well.)

Audition Requirements

 

Singers

Tweetsie Railroad is looking for traditional, country and musical theater performers. Prepare two vocal selections to include one ballad and one up-tempo song. Bring Karoke CD or tape, or sheet music in the proper key (an accompanist will be provided). Singers be prepared for additional movement and vocal audition.

Dancers

We are looking for dancers who can sing. All dancers interested in the Palace Show come prepared (see Singers). All dancers will be taught a combination on site. Cloggers may prepare a brief dance demonstrating your most proficient styles.

Actors

Prepare a one minute monologue that demonstrates strong improvisational skills and proficiency in theatrical movement. Stage combat, magic and equestrian skills are of particular interest to our staff.

Stage Managers/Technicians

We are looking for stage managers with university, theme park or professional theater experience. We are also looking for audio engineers experienced in mixing live sound, AV specialists, crew chiefs, light board and follow spot operators, stagehands and costume assistants. Please note specific times for production personnel at Regional auditions.

 

Tweetsie's 2008 performance season is May 2nd through November 2nd; however, a variety of employment lengths are available. Performers of all cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
